About Us

At Indian Motifs, we are dedicated to preserving and celebrating the exquisite art of hand block printing, an ancient craft that has been passed down through generations of skilled artisans in Rajasthan. Our mission is to represent, protect, and ensure the survival of this dying art form, giving artisans the recognition, respect, and fair opportunities they deserve.

Unlike mass-produced textiles, each piece we offer is handcrafted using traditional methods, ensuring authenticity, sustainability, and cultural integrity. By working closely with artisans from Jaipur, we honour the legacy of Bagru, Sanganeri, and Dabu printing techniques. each carrying a rich history of craftsmanship, storytelling, and artistic expression.

Operating from Australia, we act as a bridge between Indian heritage and modern global audiences who value authenticity, artistry, and ethical craftsmanship. Every purchase supports the livelihoods of artisans who are striving to keep this tradition alive in a world that is rapidly moving toward mechanisation.

Our Story

For us, hand block printing is not just a craft; it is a part of our roots. Raised in Jaipur, the heart of this textile tradition, we grew up surrounded by the rhythmic tapping of wooden blocks against fabric, the earthy aroma of natural dyes, and the sight of skilled artisans transforming blank textiles into intricate works of art. This deep connection to Rajasthan's textile legacy instilled in us a profound respect for the artisans who dedicate their lives to perfecting this meticulous craft.

As the world moves towards fast fashion and synthetic textiles, we saw firsthand how these artisans, who once thrived, were struggling to sustain themselves. The demand for machine-printed imitations has threatened their livelihoods, making it increasingly difficult for them to continue their ancestral craft.

We couldn’t stand by and watch this legacy fade into history. Thus, Indian Motifs was born. a platform committed to preserving, promoting, and reviving the true essence of hand block printing, ensuring it continues to thrive for generations to come.
